Tiny screws, the most important parts of any modern device, seem to be highly determined to disappear to the Tiny Screw Space at the slightest provocation. Hours spent searching for a single lost screw often result in a growing collection of mismatched replacements. Despite their usefulness, these elusive fasteners create endless frustration and an ever-expanding box of screws that fit nothing I own.
Research posters aren’t arts and crafts. They are an essential skill. Years later, now that I have made, judged, and cartooned countless posters. Here are a few insights: highlight your key message, keep text readable, avoid clutter, and make clear and understandable figures. Remember: a poster isn’t a thesis.
All thanks to imposter syndrome and the first rejections, we end up believing all of our peers are secret super geniuses and will soon discover that we are, in fact, dumb dumbs. But in reality, we are all dumb dumbs in our own ways and often need lot more help than we ever want to admit.
